WUT has several lab facilities available including a full-field optical metrology laboratory, an optical laboratory and workshop, 3D printing facilities, a photonics materials and characterisation laboratory, an optical fibre sensing laboratory and a 3D/4D shape measurement laboratory. In Glass-Care the students will mainly work in the latter lab. This is a laboratory specialising in the measurement of static and dynamic 3D objects using structured light systems (including robotic arm-mounted systems and photogrammetry, such as Structure from Motion), with complete data processing workflows. Applications include industrial, cultural heritage, and biomedical fields. WUT is partner in the “Reveal” project, which aims at installing a novel microscope for quantitative phase imaging at the interface of instrumentation, machine learning and biology. WUT is responsible for tomographic reconstructions of 3D refractive index distribution and metrology of the QPI systems.

Politechnika Warszawska (WUT) is the biggest in Poland research intensive, doctoral level academic institution focused on undergraduate and graduate programs almost exclusively in engineering and applied sciences. For the excellence of its applied research and innovation activities WUT is recognised by the Polish government as a Research University (one of 10 universities having this status in Poland). WUT is also the leading member of in European project ENHANCEplus: The European Universities of Technology Alliance. WUT is also the member of E-RIHS.PL which participate in E-RIHS ERIC (European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science).  In GLASS CARE project WUT is represented by Photonics Engineering Chair at the Faculty of Mechatronics, which is highly, recognised at international level optical group specialising in optical metrology, novel full field optical measurement and data-processing methods, as well as development of optical instrumentation and sensors. The applications span from industry, biomedical, multimedia and cultural heritage digitization/archiving and monitoring (close co-operation with Fine art Academy in Warsaw and many museums). The photonics team hosts in total 5 full professors, 20 post-docs, 20 PhD students and 4 technical staff members. WUT Photonics Engineering Chair (PEC) has created the strongest optics and photonics research and innovation hub in Poland, which has close links with industry and the network of international partners. PEC has been the partner in European Erasmus Mundus Masters OpSciTech: Optics in Science and Technology, participates in the activities of ETP Photonics 21 and in E-RIHS.pl consortium.
