Training through original research

* This research is performed primarly at the host institution, complemented by secondments at partner institutions to broaden expertise and foster interdisciplinary collaboration.

* Each DC is supervised by a team of four: a primary supervisor from the host institution, 2 secondary (academic) supervisors, with at least one from a different institution and sector, ensuring a cross-sectoral perspective and an advisor who provides broader feedback, often from the end-user community.

* Each DC follows a structured research visits (shorter or equal than 1 month) and secondment (longer than 1 month) plan, corresponding to visits at partner institutions, using their facilities for their research project.

* During these stays, the DC is provided complementary theoretical background and hands-on experience, enabling the DC to achieve the objectives set for the research program.

* DCs 1, 5, 9 and 2, 9, 12 can benefit from on-the-job industrial experience during their stay at Avantes and Spektralion, respectively.
